Unit Awards

Journey to Excellence
This award is to be retired by the national council December 31, 2024.
Journey to Excellence is the Boy Scouts of America program to help Packs, Troops, Crews, Ships and Posts to plan, monitor and evaluate their performance and their ability to serve youth. There are specific criteria for the unit to plan and accomplish. These standards are reviewed each year and revised standards are published.

Baden Powell Award
The Baden Powell Award can only be earned by units chartered with the Alamo Area Council. The criteria for the award focuses on activities completed within the Council, as a way to further celebrate a unit's successes in implementing opportunities that benefit the youth they serve.

- A culture of recognition can help attract new volunteers to Scouting, as it demonstrates the BSA's commitment to its volunteers and the positive impact they can have.

- Recognizing volunteers enhances the BSA's reputation by demonstrating its commitment to community service and volunteerism.
- Recognizing volunteers encourages everyone to take a volunteer role in Scouting, both by fostering a positive atmosphere and by providing a sense of accomplishment.
Adult Training Awards
As Unit Leaders continue their commitment to training, these awards not only acknowledge their efforts but celebrate them. Scouting is better with knowledgeable adults guiding our programs. See the Training Awards offered by the BSA (this section is near the bottom of the page that will open).
