It is our pleasure to announce the appointment of Ryan Harris as the new
Scout Executive of the Alamo Area Council, effective July 16, 2025.
Ryan brings nearly 30 years of accomplished leadership experience in business operations, technology, and team development, most recently serving as an Assistant Vice President at USAA. In that role, he led large-scale operations and technology initiatives with a focus on fraud prevention, customer experience, and organizational transformation, and uniting high-performing teams across disciplines.
His professional career is matched only by his deep-rooted commitment to the mission of Scouting. A dedicated volunteer leader within the Alamo Area Council for over a decade, Ryan has served as a District Commissioner, Assistant Council Commissioner for Programs, Committee Chair of the Bear Creek Properties Committee, and Scoutmaster, among many other roles. His leadership has driven membership growth, enhanced program quality, and spearheaded strategic improvements to the Council’s premier camping properties.
Ryan’s passion for youth development and servant leadership is evident in his extensive volunteer service, including his involvement with Wood Badge, NYLT, and as a founding supporter of one of the first female Scout troops in the Council. He has been honored with the District Award of Merit, the Silver Beaver, and is a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow.
Ryan’s family is deeply involved in Scouting in Alamo Area. His wife, Alana, is a Scoutmaster of a very successful female troop, Drew (20) is an Eagle Scout and currently in Venturing, and twin daughters Megan and Erin (17) are Life Scouts with their eyes on Eagle.
Please join us in congratulating Ryan and welcoming him into his new role as Scout Executive. We are confident he will continue to live out the Scout Oath and Law as he leads the Alamo Area Council in its next great chapter.
