Volunteer at Bear Creek Scout Camp: Flood Relief Efforts
We are committed to rebuilding Bear Creek Scout Camp—and we can’t do it alone.
Recent flooding in Kerr County has left parts of the area inaccessible due to road closures and safety checkpoints. As soon as these restrictions are lifted, we will begin inviting Scouting volunteers and supporters to join us at Bear Creek Scout Camp to assist in the cleanup and restoration efforts.

What Needs to Be Done
Over the coming weeks, we’ll share specific opportunities for Scouts, Scouters, and community members to roll up their sleeves and serve. Here’s what we’re facing right now:
🛣️ Road Repairs
Our roads were already in need of improvement—but now entire sections are completely washed out. Temporary fixes are failing, and we estimate repairs will cost more than $300,000.
🌀 Slide Tower Shifted
Floodwaters physically moved the iconic slide tower several inches, and tangled debris damaged the cables. We’re awaiting a professional safety inspection before any repairs can begin.
🚫 Floating Dock Washed Away
The centerpiece of our waterfront area was ripped from its moorings and destroyed. It must be rebuilt from the ground up.
🧗 COPE and Climbing Safety
We’re coordinating with vendors to conduct thorough inspections of our high-adventure elements to ensure they are safe for future use.
🌪️ Silt, Debris, and Infrastructure Damage
Mud now fills natural swim areas, trails are littered with debris, and hidden infrastructure like pipes and drains have been exposed or damaged. Every campsite and activity zone has been affected.
We know Bear Creek holds a special place in the hearts of thousands of Scouts and families. Together, we’ll bring it back—stronger than ever.
Please stay connected as we work with local authorities and wait for the all-clear to begin our volunteer efforts.
