The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo has presented an exciting opportunity for local Scouts to support their adventures while serving the community. Scouting youth and adult volunteers now have a chance to earn funds for their upcoming expeditions by working VIP paid parking areas during the event while also supporting the Alamo Area Council’s Give the Adventure Campaign.
Opportunity Details
• Earnings Per Person: $25 for a 4-hour shift, $31.25 for 5-hour shift (Friday).
• Age Requirement: Volunteers must be 16 years and older, adult volunteer participation is encouraged (you don’t HAVE to bring youth).
• Leadership Requirement: If you are bringing youth, two-deep leadership is required on-site.
• Uniform Requirement: Wear the official Scout field uniform (Class A) during the entire shift
• Current Availability: Weekend shifts currently open for Feburary 7-9th, 14-16th, and 21-23rd.
• Future Plans: Potential expansion to weekday evening shifts
• Event Admission Ticket for a later date: Come back and have fun at the event for free!
Scouts will have the opportunity to not only raise money for their upcoming adventures, but also promote Scouting’s values of community service while supporting the Give the Adventure Campaign. The arrangement with the AAC allows Scouts to make a meaningful contribution while supporting their personal growth and team activities.
Next Steps
Get your group together: You will need two-deep leadership per Scouting America’s Youth Protection Policies. All participants must be 16 years old or older, children under 16 will not be allowed to serve or ‘hang out’ in the parking are per the venue.
Participating groups will receive a release form that must be completed and returned before the show begins. Comprehensive job training will be provided, including an onsite training session on Saturday, February 1st. Detailed information about parking assignments and specific muster locations will be communicated to registered volunteers.
***CRITICAL STEP – During registration, you must list ALAMO AREA COUNCIL as the organization in order to receive payment. Failure to do this will result in no payment and is that is irreversible.
How Your Unit Will Get Paid

Checks to the Unit for their service will be drafted in May, and available for pick up at the Council office. This is an excellent chance for Scouts to demonstrate leadership, earn funds for their adventures, and showcase the spirit of Scouting throughout the San Antonio community.
